V-Drums Contest Rules:
The Roland V-Drums Contest (Contest) is divided into three stages:
- Video Entry;
- Australasian Finals; and
- International V-Drums Contest.
The Video Entry and Australasian Finals are sponsored and organised by Roland Corporation Australia Pty Limited (ACN 001 359 002), of 38 Campbell Avenue, Dee Why West, NSW 2099 (Roland Australia). The Contest is co sponsored by Australian Music Pty Ltd (ACN 125 007 561) trading as Allans Music + Billy Hyde (Allans Music + Billy Hyde).
The Contest is a performance contest in which entrants will compete to determine the best drummer. The Contest is one of skill, not of chance.
Video Entry Rules:
- All entrants must be permanent residents of Australia or New Zealand and 18 years of age or older at the time of entry.
- The Contest is open to all professional and amateur musicians.
- During the Video Entry stage, entrants are required to perform a drum/percussion solo using any Roland electronic percussion.
- The use of any features within the sound module(s) on Roland electronic percussion are permissible, including MP3 backing tracks via USB ports. The use of other instruments, backing tracks, vocals, accompaniments and any other external sound sources is prohibited.
- Entrants' performances must be video taped, uploaded to YouTube, and officially entered into the Contest by correctly completing the entry form details on Roland Australia's website (Video Entry).
- Entrants must state their names at the beginning of the Video Entry.
- The entrant's performance on the Video Entry is not to exceed 5 minutes in length or it will be automatically disqualified.
- Only one Video Entry per entrant will be accepted.
- Each entrant must comply with YouTube LLC's Terms of Service, Community Guidelines and Privacy Notice in respect of the Video Entry.
- Automated or repetitive electronic submissions (including, but not limited to entries made using any script, macro, bot or content service) will be automatically disqualified and transmissions from these or related email or IP addresses may be blocked.
- The Video Entry does not need to be professionally recorded. However, the audio and video must be recorded well enough so that those evaluating the entrant's Video Entry can easily hear his or her drumming and evaluate his or her playing.
- Roland will only use Video Entries for the purpose of judging them for the Contest. It will not use the Video Entries for any other purposes.
- The top 6 Australian and New Zealand Video Entries, as determined by the judging panel, will go through to a final round where they will be invited to perform live on stage at the Sydney V Drum Festival on Sunday, 18 September 2011 (Australasian Finals).
- Finalists will be notified by phone and email by 3 September 2011. If a finalist cannot be contacted by 7 September 2011, or is unwilling or unable to participate in the Australasian Finals, that finalist will be disqualified and a new finalist will be chosen.
