Australasian Finals Rules:
- Roland Australia will provide travel to Sydney for finalists who reside outside of the Sydney metropolitan region, as determined by Roland Australia, as per its travel conditions.
- Each finalist will be asked to perform a drum solo, of less than 5 minutes in duration, in front of a live audience and a panel of judges. Following the performances, the judging panel will deliberate to determine the first and second place winners by assigning a score according to the judging criteria.
- All finalists must perform their drum solo on the Roland TD 20KX. Finalists will be given rehearsal time on the TD 20KX through their local Allans Music + Billy Hyde Store, if there is a Store local to them. It is the finalists' responsibility to rehearse and to travel to Allans Music + Billy Hyde to rehearse. Roland Australia or Allans Music + Billy Hyde will not provide a Roland TD 20KX to any finalists for rehearsal if there is no Allans Music + Billy Hyde Store local to the finalists and they will not be liable in any way to finalists in this regard. Furthermore, Roland Australia and Allans Music + Billy Hyde are not liable to contribute to any travel, accommodation or other expenses incurred by the finalists for rehearsal for the Australasian Finals.
- The use of any features within the TD 20KX sound module is permissible, including MP3 backing tracks via the USB port. The use of other instruments, backing tracks, vocals, accompaniments and any other external sound sources is prohibited.
- Finalists will receive only one chance to perform their piece live on stage at the Australasian Finals.
- All finalists' performances at the Australasian Finals will be video taped by Roland Australia or its authorised agent.
- Finalists will be allowed 5 minutes to set-up and adjust the TD 20KX prior to their performances. Finalists may use their own data (Compact Flash) card and/or a foot switch.
- Any allowed modifications to the drum set set up must be completed within the stated 5 minutes set up time. Finalists may not bring or use any pre recorded patterns or samples during the live performance at the Australasian Finals.
- Finalists may otherwise utilise the features of the Roland set in any creative way they like, including the onboard TD 20KX sequences. Any operation of the module, including button pushes or value changes (to change kits, for example) during the performance can only be executed by the finalist.
- All finalists are required to provide valid identification (ie, a passport or driver's licence) upon request before competing in the Australasian Finals. This identification will verify the finalist's identity as a pre selected finalist and that he or she is 18 years of age or older.
- All finalists at the Australasian Finals will be required to sign an Eligibility Talent Consent & Release before the Australasian Finals begin. Failure to sign this Release will result in disqualification from the Australasian Finals.
- The winner of the Australasian Finals will be flown to Anaheim, California, to represent Australasia at the International V Drums Contest, held at the NAMM Show in January 2012. Roland Australia will arrange travel and pay airfare and accommodation costs. If a selected finalist cannot travel to the International V Drums Contest, he or she will be disqualified and will not receive any prizes and the next runner up in the Australasian Finals will be offered the spot pursuant to the same conditions.
- The International V-Drums Contest has a separate set of rules, regulations and terms and conditions. These will be communicated with the Australasian winner, who will need to comply with these rules, terms and conditions.
- There is no prize substitution. Prizes cannot be exchanged for their cash value.
